The 1812 War - Graphic Novel
This full colour graphic novel follows the Loxley family as they're torn apart by the American invasion of Canada in 1812 and the subsequent war that raged across both countries as British troops, Canadian militia, and native warriors sought to thwart the expansionist plans of the American government.
The book is aimed at a 10 to adult reading range and will be released in softback and prestige hardback editions in 2011. The book will be released in English and French initially with other languages, including native North American languages, available either in print or as digital editions too.
Information on the creative team and quotes from them about the Graphic Novel:
Alan Grant
After 30 years of writing the fictional adventures of Batman, Judge Dredd and Terminator, 'The 1812 War' is Alan Grant's first foray into actual history. He is shocked and delighted to find that real life is a lot worse - and a lot better - than fiction ever could be!
"Laughter, tears, irony...all human life is reflected in The 1812 War. And nobody on either side wore a spandex costume!"
George Freeman
George Freeman is a Canadian comic book penciller, inker, and colorist, whose credits include "Captain Canuck", "Batman", "Elric", "Mr.Monster" and "The Big Book of Bad".
LOVERN KINDZIERSKI
Lovern Kindzierski has been recognized by the Comic Buyer’s Guide survey as one of comics’ most influential colourists of all time. He has designed colour for every major publisher in the industry and been nominated several times as Best Colourist for both the Eisner, Harvey and Shuster Awards.
"History like this should not be forgotten."
ALEXANDER FINBOW
A writer and film-maker by training, Alexander has been editing Renegade's comics for two years now under the guiding hand of Alan Grant.
"It is scary to think that a conflict that could have wiped Canada or America from the modern maps has been largely forgotten. This book will hopefully inform a younger generation of the events and introduce more readers to comics."
